Researchers have concluded that SLS has been shown to extend the eyes healing time by up to five times more.  A normal and healthy eye will heal in approximately two days.  An eye that has been exposed to sulfate may take as long as ten days to heal.  Exposure to this substance will may cause improper eye development in children.  Scientists have also concluded that sulfate does not have to enter through the eye directly to affect eye development.  It can be absorbed through the skin.  Other researchers have also tested and concluded that sulfate can react with other ingredients and form a powerful chemical compound known as nitrosamine.  A potent carcinogen that is toxic and may cause cancer.  SLS is also a skin irritant that can penetrate the skin barrier;therefore, SLS is capable of damaging a persons skin.
